Quick Action Throttle

#1 PostAuthor: njwmct » Wed Oct 23, 2019 3:24 pm

I would like to speed up the action of the throttle on my Z1000 MKII
Obviously I could buy a quick action throttle but I was wondering if anyone as found a way to improve the throttle action without changing the original throttle housing ?

Hi Nick, been there, I,ve tried increasing the diameter of the twist at the bars but the angle of the cable inner into the outer always scraped. So tried decreasing the carb butterfly and it was just too stiff to comfortably use it.
Ended up buying a 1/4 action throttle twist the had to cut off the face of the original housing so I could rebate the fast action clamp bolts inside the original housing.
Wasnt worried about defacing oem housing as it was on my custom 650.

HRC (yes I know it's Hodna) make a race twist grip for Fireblades that fits in most housings that has a larger diameter bit where the cables go, I haven't tried one on a Z housing, but they're only about £10 so it's not the end of the world if it doesn't work.
