Hi lads,
Would anyone be good enough to share a picture of where the sidestand spring on either of the above is snagged onto the bracket?
On my bike the spring was kinked and strained and was on a galvanized 8.8 bolt on the most forward treaded hole of two. There is also a pin with what seems like a grove for either a cir clip or...a spring but it is facing down to the ground, so don't know how that would work. Anyway, I know a little trial and error would sort it, but as I have gone to the bother of a new spring I don't want to f@ck it.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Al,
Thanks for the reply.
I have that part diagram but it doesn't give any more detail.
The picture below shows the original bodged spring that was fitted when I got the bike back. I also showed the correct( I hope ) spring beside it. only issue is there are two threaded holes and a pin Immediately to the left of the bolt. There are also two spring options depending on the exhaust, so not sure which spring I have, or the correct way of securing it to the frame. If you could show or advise on the correct bolt and position it would be great, I'm not putting that tat back in permanently ..honest!
Phil,

A picture paints a thousand....... It looks to me as if that is the three spring affair, (the lower one of the two pictured alternatives in the parts sheet) That was how mine was until i modified it to be more like the arrangement you have now. The three spring version; when its working, folds back a little when you lift the bike off its stand, makes great tea and prints £50 notes. Trouble is i've never seen one work properly
If it is the three spring Euro zone version there are three or five bits missing. The photos' i took showing it all in detail were lost when Photobucket got heavy handed and i closed my account.
I'm afraid its over to someone who has a complete and working version as pictures of my set-up will tell you little.

I'm glad I asked before attempting to gently persuade it with the hammer!
I will await further instruction!
That was a swift reply BTW, thanks.
Re: Sidestand spring: 1000R/J
I meant to say that the parts diagram i posted is a little misleading. What appears to be the frame mounted side stand bracket which the stand is bolted to is actually a folded bracket which fits over the cast bracket that you have welded to the frame. That partly explains that excessive mass of redundant metal you can see with yours above the stand main bolt!!

I am starting to feel a bit of sympathy for whoever bodged the old spring... but he could have used a black bolt at least!

Re: Sidestand spring: 1000R/J
I just had a look at the spring mechanism on my Z1000R2, and this has the three spring jobbie (although I notice one of the springs is missing).
I can't be 100% but I think that your photo is the top of the two diagrams, ie a single spring and not the complicated 3 spring jobbie.
The actual side stand photo of your bike shows the spring held in a 'captive' hole - which looks like part number 34024A, the bottom diagram has the spring attached to a spline? that sticks out on the stand and is part number 34024 (ie on my bike).
This might not help as to where the top end of the spring goes, but hopefully it might (if i'm not talking toilet) be useful.
Edited.
I think part 92001 is the correct bolt and the spring simply hooks over it.

Re: Sidestand spring: 1000R/J
Thanks Stu.
That is a great help.
I think if I get that bolt and put it in the top hole it will work as the c-c measurement is about the same between the hole and the captive hole in both up and down position!

Pleasure.
I agree, in theory that single bolt should do the job.
Good luck with it.
