idle adjust strip down

can this be striped down further to me looks like i should be able unwind the adjuster out pass the threads and remove ? but meet stiff resistance before i can get it near the end of the threaded part

Yes, should be able to just unscrew it (anti clockwise) and the idle adjuster shaft and spring will come free.

the threaded section at the top has probably been exposed for decades, so the threads have rusted a bit. Screw it clockwise 3 or 4 turns , to bring the rusty area up then wire brush the upper threads , then screw it out anticlockwise a bit at a time with WD40
