Choke plunger

#1 PostAuthor: skinnyZED » Sat Feb 14, 2026 4:16 pm

Hi all,
Bike ‘78 Z1000 A2 26mm carbs in UK
I have 1 collar stuck on the plunger, see image,
Any idea what may have caused this?
Is this a common occurrence?
It does not spin and has a crack in it so will probably break during removal as I hope to send all 4 for replacement seals,
Saxon_warrior /Zed1015 Rob, ( should I contact you via eBay?)
I don’t see any collars listed on usual places, ZPower or Bikers Toolbox,
Are they available anywhere? I have seen some aluminium version,
Also, can any confirm the e clip size is 2.5mm?
Thanks in advance
Cheers, Stuart

That looks like its got hot at some point, not sure if Rob does the bobbins, makes a brilliant job of the plungers though, you can contact him through here, he is pretty prompt and turnaround time is superb, I made my own bobbins years ago.

E clip size I fitted to my A2 in 2024 was 2.5mm
I ordered them in 304 stainless steel as when i tried to refit originals i had one snap in 2 pieces.

I am pretty certain this is where i got mine

You can get the bobbins ( and a good few other parts for your zed) from here ,

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/126557170516

good quality parts, got them on my A4 along with Rob's Viton plunger upgrade.
I dunno man ...I just got here myself

Thanks for the link,
That’s most probably what I’ll get,
Along with a couple of other things
Cheers,
