Z1000j Lawson rep

#1 PostAuthor: floydsz1 » Tue Aug 09, 2022 5:05 pm

Time has come to sell some of my collection, due to medical conditions I can no longer ride it. It was built by a fellow club member a few years ago and there's a write-up in a club mag aswell as being on the club stand at Stafford. There's a memory stick with photos of the build etc etc. It's done less than 1000 miles on the standard rebuilt engine, the speedo stopped working just after I got it when I replaced the back tyre, probably needs the sensor adjusting, I've just fitted a new rear tyre.
Dymag wheels,
Titanium exhaust
Swingarm with built in catch tank
Brand new revcounter just fitted
Starts on the button.
Also have rear numberboard/single seat conversion.
I'm sure most will recognise it, it's been sat in my workshop and then house since 2017. Before it gets advertised elsewhere I'd thought I'd offer it to a fellow member.
Registered in March 1982 so presumably tax and mot exempt, I'll sort the v5 out ASAP. Might need an mot as it's not exactly standard
£8995.
Very reluctant sale but the time has come to sort out a few things at home.
Any more photos just ask,
Thanks. Peter.

Very nice bike and good price.
Being 1982 it won't be exempt till next April 2023 though so no need to send off the V5 just yet unless it was declared manufactured 1981.

Thanks for that, couldn't remember about the historic bit but its reg march 1982.
It'll need a little check over due to not being used for a few years but it starts perfectly.

Brings back memories….I bought this originally from Alan at Kipkawa, this was one of their race bikes and reckoned as close to Eddies bike as you will get. He got in touch with me after a while to ask if he could borrow the front calipers to take measurements in order to get another set made. I’ve a magazine somewhere with an article on it. Sold it to Padders who made a cracking job of finishing it off properly as a road bike……then I bought it back again !

I was going to race it myself, I've a tuned engine (you can see it in the picture) built by Graham at diptune that I was going to fit but things changed and I never got round to it. The more I look at it the more I want to keep it. I'm going to get the seat unit out the loft later and remove the indicators etc so it'll be more like Eddie's bike. :up

After thinking about keeping it I've just been out on my z1b and have finally realised i need a new hip, poss both of them so i don't want to wait any longer so been looking into going private so i don't waste another year not riding so its definitely going for sale along with the tuned motor (diptune) that hasn't been run since being built. The motor cost me around £1800 to have built ( not including buying the original motor) so id hope to get £1500 . Ill post some pictures of it later. Thought id try here first.

Historic vehicle tax exemption

You can apply to stop paying for vehicle tax from 1 April 2023 if your vehicle was built before 1 January 1983. You must tax your vehicle even if you do not have to pay.

If you do not know when your vehicle was built, but it was first registered before 8 January 1983, you can still apply to stop paying vehicle tax.

Remember this beauty on eBay back in Sept 2014, it had kipkawa tank badges on it at the time and foam air filters, always wondered where it went, as auction ended early.

I've Still got this, health issues have made me realise its got to go along with a couple of others in my collection so if anyone's interested I'm open to offers, would sooner it went to someone in the club.
