Rapidly running out of floor space in the shed due to a newly acquired Harrison mill.
Decided to re-jig the place and somehow make room so i can actually get back in there to carry on with work on the current project bikes .
No scope to build out so had to get inventive.
Motorised cable lift cobbled from scrap box section roadwork sign frames, old wheel bearings, home made pulleys and a builders winch works a treat and i now get parking for two bikes in one space.
Just some minor tweaking and a tart up with a coat of paint to finish it off

Only 3 foot odd at the ridge in the loft.
Tall enough to crawl around and store parts but that's it.
Stuck to permitted development when i built it so only 14 foot x 22 foot internally and 13 foot to the apex which was more than big enough before i filled it up

Don't normally use it but Tesco's had it at £2 ish a tin on clubcard prices so the missus bought a bunch for Valentines.
Not a squeaky door within a 5 mile radius of my house now

The calculation is the same as the number of bikes you need;

NEED = CURRENTLY OWNED + 1

I realised i could maybe use a tail lift but only after i was halfway through building this.
Had a look on Ebay at the time and there was a few around £200 which was tempting but they were all miles away.
Would also have loved to have dug down too but any more than a couple of feet round here and you hit the water table so only good for an indoor pool

And this is the mill responsible for the desperate measures which has forced a total re-jig of the shed and several months lack of progress on the project bikes.

To figure out the layout i had to move the lathe and mill around a fair bit to find the best position so i ended up making these machine skates from I beam offcuts and some cheap £50 a set Ebay levelling castors.
They work very well and the machines which weigh around 650 kg each take only as much effort to move as pushing around a full supermarket trolley.
