1000J/R and non bathtub Z1100 heads are also the same and will fit.

There is a 1000J head listed on ebay - item number 354725431357
Sellers description says "removed from a good engine"
Listing includes the cam cover.
Its not cheap but for a head complete with all the parts including the cams, I'd say its a fair price.
If you buy a selection of items from various sources, as you probably know, when dealing with 40 year old parts, theres often a bit of work involved in making it all fit together and work properly.
A complete assembly of matching parts is a good start and probably well worth the money.
As always its buyer beware and you need to check the listing details.

Hi slacker

keep in mind that the camshafts of a Gpz1100B2 have 3 grooves on the place where the rev counter gear is sitting at the camshafts of older Zeds! These camshafts are the same of those of a Z1000R. They're not easy to find ...
Good luck!

Hi guys, thanks for the info, but a B2 head locates the temperature sensor and the camshafts are different on the J.

The problem is that one of the camshaft caps on my engine has broken. I been told the cap and head are a matched pair and you must not use another cap from another engine. Any ideas?

Thanks

Ian

The head and caps are machined as a set but another number 1 or 3 cap which controls cam end float can be used if you know what you are doing .

Pair of EXTREMELY HARD TO FIND correct camshafts on ebay.
These are 1100B2 and 1000R2 ONLY
ebay item 235087074475
They are not cheap but I have not seen another correct set for sale in years.

Hi,

Thanks for the note on the cams.

I found a cylinder head on eBay, bought it and found it had 2 cracks in the head.

Nothing wrong with that.
Those surface expansion fissures are more common that not and won't cause a problem.
Most of these heads have them.
