Quick action throttle options

#1 PostAuthor: warren3200gt » Wed Jul 26, 2017 6:13 am

I'm after decreasing the amount of "twist" on the throttle to fully open the carbs on the period custom 650. I don't want to change the top end of the cables so the pull/push mechanism no longer is inside the switch gear housing, so my thoughts turned to the carb end of the cables. If I fabricate a new one and increase the diameter of the X butterfly thingy which the cables locate into that would have the same effect correct?
Firstly is there one available to save me fabricating one. If I have to fabricate one I'll either have to make a completely new one with a larger diameter or add to the existing one to increase the diameter.
Anyone done something similar or has ideas on how to achieve the desired end result?

You need a SMALLER cable wheel on the carbs to achieve the quick action effect.
It may be possible to deepen the groove on the existing wheel but maybe not enough scope to make a significant difference.

Or you can make the twist grip end bigger by gluing on a piece of plastic pipe to the existing throttle tube

I have a Domino fast action throttle on one of my track day bikes. That version is twin cable but they do other versions.

Doh, course it does. might be able to achieve single handful full throttle by doing a bit both ends in the ways suggested.
