Hi Guys,
I was thinking about upgrading the ignition on my MKII to Dyna S (I already run Dyna coils & Taylor leads).
Has anyone fitted one to a MKII & can you tell me how you go about getting the timing correct for cylinders 2&3 because on a MKII there are only timing marks for cylinders 1&4 ?

Surely if 1 & 4 is correct 2 & 3 must be correct assuming the pick ups are 180 Deg opposite each other.

The Dyna pick-ups have their own individual adjustment on the back plate so do need tweaking to be bang on.

You can either use an earlier Z1000 points advancer which has both 1-4 and 2-3 timing marks or use a degree wheel to locate and mark the TDC and full advance on your original MK2 one.

Makes sence, Thank you.

I have just fitted Dyna S coils and breaker pick-ups to my Z1-B. Once I'd set up cyls 1 & 4 the timing marks (tickover & full advance) on 2 & 3 were spot on. I'm guessing they set them up exactly 180 degrees apart in the factory.

If youre using a strobe to set-up or check after setting the air gap:
Snap-on and others i guess, strobe lights have an advance and retard keypad. Clip onto 2 or 3 and type + or - 180 into the display. It will illuminate the timing marks for 2 and 3 at the top as if they were 1 and 4. Of course you need to find someone to lend one to you.
