Dyna coils and Ballast resistor
Hi Guys, some years ago i fitted the Dyna S electronic ignition to my Z1R. Recently i decided to fit Dyna coils, that I have done. But it tells you in the instructions, when you are using the Dyna s ignition with the Dyna coils, to remove the Ballast resistor ???? so i have just un-plugged it and removed it from the bike. Is that correct ? and what dose this resistor do anyway. Thanks in advance
Re: Dyna coils and Ballast resistor
The ballast resistor limits the current to the points to prevent arcing and excessive wear.
The Dyna needs a full 12 volts which is why the resistor needs removing.
