I have read every posting I can find, but want to clarify one point when swopping valve shims. ( Z1000 1978)
What I have done ; Plugs out, cam cover off, measured clearances, need to change 2 inlets.
So, valve 1, rotate cam with kickstart until cam pushes valve fully open.
Fit kawa tool on carb side
Rotate crank backwards with spanner until cam is pointing away and tool is holding lifter down.
My question is, doing it this way (as per manual) hopefully avoids piston contacting valve but as I rotate the cam backwards, the exhaust can start opening , so is there any possibility the valves would tangle, or am I overthinking it

Thanks very much in advance for any pointers, Stuart
