Hello all
Putting my gearbox back together and noticed that the main bearing
In the photo slides off the main shaft quite easily.
Turns out it's the same situation on the layshaft (clutch) as well.
In the kawasaki manual it says to remove the bearings (if required)
Using a puller but only if they are tight. This suggests that they could
be removed by hand.
There is certainly no wear or blueing on the shafts or bearings.
They are a nice fairly snug fit, but as I say easily pull off the shafts.
I read in the Z900/1000 rebuild book I got from ZPOWER, that the chap also had the same issue on his main shaft and used loctite for bearings / shafts to solve the issue.
So the questions are, is it normal for these bearings to pull off by hand
and what are your thoughts on the loctite solution?
Thanks
Paul

Re: 1000 A1 gearbox bearings
Sometimes they are tight and sometimes they slide fairly easy.
As long as the actual bearing is good it will be fine.
Do not use any loctite.
The inner race of the bearing gets held once the sprocket nut is tightened.
Same goes for the clutch bearing and hub nut..
