Dyna ignition
Hi everyone, I've just had my dyna ignition on the z900a4 fail again ,it lasted two years, faulty Pickup 2 and 3 this is the second dyna that's failed. Same problem on the first dyna i purchased failed Pickup that time it was 1 and 4, has anyone else had this issue, or have I just been unlucky. Surely they should last more than 2 years
Re: Dyna ignition
Unlucky.
I've had the same one on my daily transport Z1R for over 25 years .
The one on my supercharged 1000a for 17 years and the one on my z1000 alloy cafe 11 years.
If you still have the good pick up off your old set you can use that to make a good set out of both.

Thanks⁶ for the quick reply, I was looking at the boyer system just not so keen on that ,the red box would have to be housed under the frame at the base of the tank a bit exposed I think. Ho well I'll order one from z-power.
Re: Dyna ignition
Yes I've had two fail of the past few years burnt out and melted.
I've been told from a very well known racer and restorer (now retired) in these parts.. That this is common you get one's that go forever and you get one's that go fizz! I guess what do you expect from something made by Randy in Bum F#@k Alabama.... p.s the coils are very prone to failing as well!
I see that you can now buy what looks like the same pick-ups from Aliexpress, maybe that's where Randy is getting them from in the first place?
Here's a picture of a load of dead ones and I only have 3 bikes, steer clear I say.. oh two of them are still running Dyna ignition but
now with standard coils, it took all those dead ones to make them work!

It's unlikely that any Dyna stuff you buy has been anywhere near Trump land..
Dynatek coils and ignitions etc have been made in China for the past 20 years or so .

Re: Dyna ignition
My dyna has been on for around 10 years and it's been no problem running, if it were to go wrong I would go boyer, the reason being I have had a fair few bikes with boyers and always been reliable and you don't need to rely on the advance unit as it's programmed in the box, I also feel that bad connections have something to do with the dyna failures.
