Everyday is a school day and i wouldnt mind but i have both engines on the bench sitting beside each other, i think it stems from a thread where someone was making a a smooth pre 79 cover from a ribbed 79/80 one, now it leaves me wondering why he went to all the trouble other than to run the 79/80 generator.

No need to mess about like that now as there's conversion kits available that fit in the earlier covers.

Must have an earlier crank with the smaller taper in it for that to fit.

Hi Bert, Mk2 engine for sale on ebay.
Item 314787103774
Some will say its expensive but I know a chap who sold one for nearly £2K a year or so back.
you can easily convert a shaft motor with the correct parts but if you don't already have a shaft motor.... ?

Hi Bert, For the record, I agree with Streetfighter 71 ( re ebay item 314787103774) This what they go for these days.
As always check it over / make sure its ok for you before you buy !
