Hi, looking for advice please.
Went to fire up my z1b over the weekend just to run some fuel through the carbs, hit the button and the starter motor spins but doesn't crank the engine!
Everything was fine when I last used it a month ago, I'm fairly savvy with basic stuff but just wondering if there's a common issue with starter gear on these.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Starter motor
Did you try kicking it over a few times & then try start button , mine sometimes sticks if not started often enough , hope this helps
Re: Starter motor
If the starter spins then either the rotor bolt has come loose and the woodruff key sheared allowing the entire rotor and starter gear etc to spin on the crank or the actual starter clutch not engaging.
The latter can be due to gummed rollers as already mentioned but also badly worn rollers and the surface on the gear on which they grip.
In either case you will need to remove the alt cover to see what's going on.

Re: Starter motor
Thanks for that, did try kicking it over (not the bike), but only once, will try again tomorrow, failing that I'll get the tools out. Cheers.
