tank cleaning

#1 PostAuthor: keith mayall » Thu Feb 25, 2021 12:11 pm

guys I've scrolled through the site for a good tank cleaning method ,ive got 2 tanks z1000a1s ,that have just been painted[which took 6 months] so inside is now filthy. What do you guys recommend,I like the coke and harpic idea but don't know how much ratio harpic to coke, theres rust in the tanks so I will need to get that out as well, not a lot mostly surface rust.I know its been on here before but there's no ratios and types and a layman terms to do it.cheers.

It's a 3:1 coke to harpic mix, I used Harpic Max power plus, and cheap full sugar coke not diet.

Good luck

I did the phosphoric acid last year, but got flash rust even though I rinsed and put meths in.not wanting to try it with tanks being freshly painted.gping full fat coke route this time.

I have used DEOX-C to great effect - cleaned my wife's CBR125 tank perfectly, and it was very bad, including the fuel pump. Used WD40 then 2 stroke mix to keep it from re-rusting until we could fill it with Petrol. This stuff works well on all rusty parts.
