Splitting Z1000J Crankcase

#1 PostAuthor: kawasaki_man » Mon Sep 11, 2023 9:54 pm

Hi, just need some advice / confirmation regarding the splitting of the crankcases on a Z1000J.

I've removed most of the outer cases and their parts with the exception of the alternator rotor(& starter clutch assembly) and the clutch hub. Can I proceed to split the cases with these two items still in place?

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Yes! The cases will split with those components still attached

The 8mm bolts that join the front half of the crankcases together are made of finest bone china and would rather sanp than un-do. This is particularly true of the outer ones and specifically the left hand side ones. If they snap they usually snap flush which makes it a nightmare to get them out!
A couple of the very long 6mm through bolts are similarly inclined.
