ZRX1100 /1200 Steering Stem

#1 PostAuthor: kawasaki_man » Tue Jan 02, 2024 10:11 am

I'm looking at fitting a ZRX steering stem to a Z1000J frame and wanted to know if there are any differences in the top yoke design between the 1100 & 1200 models. I'm not worried about fittings for ignition or instruments, I would like confirmation on the geometry for the forks. ie can you have 1200 bottom yoke and 1100 top yoke.
Many thanks for looking.

Why do you want to use a zrx stem, I used a j stem pressed into billet yokes for my Lawson. Not sure if a zrx stem would fit.

As far as my investigating goes it shows that both J and ZRX share the same sized steering head bearings hence it seemed an easy route to go rather than have billet yokes made.

Beware that even though they may share the same bearings the ZRX stem may be longer or shorter than the J stem and still won't fit the headstock tube without modification.

I fitted ZRX1100 yokes to my z1100r no problem, same bearing sizes, dont mix and match zrx11/12 yokes.
