1st question. I'm checking my valve clearances, book says 0.05 to 0.15. I didn't exactly follow the book and just pointed the lobes 180 degs away from the valve. I'm hoping this is fine?
2nd question. Fitting of billet half moons. I was going to apply a little RTV to the head, place the half moons, then bolt the cam cover down and leave overnight without a gasket. Then remove and fit a lightly greased gasket. I didn't want to 'glue' the gasket to the half moons as it's got to come again because I have 1 tight (0.03) clearance and I haven't got the tool yet. I'm hoping that the cam cover will centralise the half moons and then the gasket will do it's job on the top face.
Would this be OK?
Cheers

Q1 = Yes! 180 degs and 0.015mm clearance ( you can go to 0.17mm if that's where the next shim takes you).
Forget the 0.50 mm it is too tight...
10mm is minimum at which point you need to re-shim.
Q2 = Again Yes!
