Got me tap n die today + a few hose clips etc. Finished off the float bowl with an 'o' ringed ally plug. Haven't got a miller to fashion a hex head so made it to take an 8mm allen key. Don't ask how i did this as it was very heath robinson and took two attempts, a sharpened impact driver bit and some crossed fingers. Also finished plumbing the cooler and made up a hose separator to tidy things up. Engine is now ready (i think) bar the exhaust. Got some sun this morning so got a pic outside .

Miller - put a vertical slide on the lathe.

You could have used one of the Zed oil gallery plugs and just tapped to suit.

Have been on the lookout for a tee slot table ect to do just that, it's near the top of a very long wish list . Did actually buy the tap n dia (m14 x 1.5) to make some oil gallery plugs as i have enough bits for two more motors but not another gallery plug in sight.

I made my own but you can get them through Debben Performance or Direct from Earls Silverstone or Goodridge etc. Most of them come with fitting for the oil pressure switch otherwise you'll have to fit a pressure gauge feeding off the end of the main oil gallery as i have done.

That is sh*t hot . Paint probably cost more than my entire project.

Things have slowed down a bit while i search for some suitable donor material for the exhaust, So inspired by Kano's - Deep oil pan - post in Discussion Board i thought i'd see what could be done in the way of modifying a std pan . Pic -1 shows the std pan with finned section carefully cut out and everything tidied up, also some ally sections to form the sides and an early oil pump with the bolt on mesh that will take a blanking plate. Pic -2 shows ally box fabricated in situ ready to be welded in with threaded boss for oil extra drain plug. Pic -3 show finished painted article. Don't think this has turned out too bad, It holds an extra 1.5 pints and won't hang down lower than the exhaust.
