Must admit the whole build has turned into something much bigger than i expected and most certainly surpasses any vision i had . Think i've got to credit the final look to the work done by the painter (Steve Joy at APACHE CUSTOMS Scunthorpe 01724 840427) who only had a rough sketch of what i wanted and left the rest to his judgement.

Can I ask you what sort of a set up there is to keep the chain from catching the front side of the back Tyre? I have GSXR running gear on my Z1 B with a dk out rigger front sprocket but practically no clearance.

On my Z1R with ZXR running gear and 180 tyre (the widest practical) i've got a 5/8 offset front with home made outrigger bearing support and rear sprocket carrier with 8mm machined off the face to line it all up .With a 630 chain it runs very close to the frame and tyre but does not touch. I also made a polyethelene chain runner ( seen next to the tax disc in pic 1) that guides the chain and reduces side to side momement. On the Drouin i've got the same set up (pic 2) but going to a 530 chain which should give some more clearance but still may fit a chain guide just to be sure.

Just viewed these at a mates house who's on broadband. Bike belongs to a guy who i've been talking to and posts on the US KZR site. Suprised to say my motor does sound a lot crisper and quicker revving (Must be the Keihin carb). Will have to pull my finger out and arrange a vid as soon as i've got the finishing touches done.

Yes, It's one of only seven other complete kits known to exist so far and the only other apart from my own that i've ever heard running.

Hi Steven,Yes I believe that is a Drouin ..The first ones offered by Druoin ran off the other side and off the crank . There an aricle in Bike magazine in the70's where they tested a Z*** and a H*** in customised frames. R*CkM*N and H*rr*s frames, as I recall.
Hi ZED 1015. Glad to here youre bike is running sweeter.The bike on the post had been sitting for 20 years which might explain why it didn't run smooth.
Anyway I would love to hear your bike as it looks brilliant. Time to thrash it around some of Scotlands empty roads me thinks

Drouins first superchargers were indeed crank mounted versions for the H**** 750 and Norton commando. These Were however a geared up impeller type similar to a turbo and a crude forerunner to the Rotrex superchargers offered by TTS etc . The Zed unit was the only version to use a roots type blower which strangely was produced later than the other more advanced H****/Norton kits.

After wading through all the fiddly bits that need finishing off there's finally light at the end of the tunnel. Had a bit of a workshop and shopping binge and got a fair bit done this week. In fact there's only the headlight mount to fabricate and some finishing on the footrest plates and we're there.

Along with a new gel battery i picked up this dinky motocross tank breather off evil bay which despite suspicions actually works.

The 40t JT rear sprocket also turned up on saturday so i finished off machining the wheel adjusters and fitted a new chain .

A short trip this morning to the local plastics supplier provided a block of polyethelene which i've carved into a chain runner this afternoon and bolted it to the swinger

NOW FOR THE FUN BIT. Just couldn't resist. Chain on, Battery on, Fuel in, No Headlight SO WHAT !. HAD to be done.

Chucked the helmet on , Tee shirt and jeans like you shouldn't and after a couple of kicks i was out the gate. BLOODY HELL ! in between wheelspinning and trying to loop the loop it don't go too bad . Gonna have to remember to blow the tyres up next time . A three mile round trip later i was back in the shed.

Plugs show it's a little lean so the jettings next on the list and once the headlights on i might actually get to put some miles on it this year
