oldgasket removal for (nearly) old gits

Guys

restoring my 1st z1, rolling chassis is done so Im now doing my 1st z1 engine, I did a few h2 motors a few years back but none of them had paper gaskets which had evolved to a near rock-like quality - any shortcuts here or best methods for removal ?

Hi you can get a air tool that takes a screw on plastic device called a (rollock) not sure on spelling,it removes gaskets spot on without damaging the metal surface,they come in three colours which denote how hard they are,i have one in the workshop,i bought it off a travelling tool van,not sure who sells them sorry,better than any knife digging into alloy.

Wet the gaskets with thinners and leave for an hour then stanly knife makes it a little easier

Thanks - I'll go for the thinners and the stanley as I dont have any air tools, thought there might be some easy remedy in a bottle from halfords
