Underslung rear caliper

At the Yorks rally I spotted a modified bike with an underslung rear caliper with the torque arm mounting underneath the swinging arm.

It looked like a standard part but I have never seen one, before

Does anyone know what model its off as I want to mount my caliper underslung so I can attach the torque bar to the original (drum) mounting bracket underneath the swinging arm.

Someone here must know?

Thats where I want mine to be and Know I could adapt a modern one to fit but the one I saw in Yorks was a standar looking z1000/9 rear caliper which is what I was looking for so I dont have to mess with spacers.

Was the caliper on a modded z1b ? If it was then it was a z1000 caliper that had the lug for the torque arm removed and rewelded onto the opposite side of the caliper . The bike is now owned by z1boozer but I did the mod years ago .

That makes sense I thought I had never seen one like that before and wondered what it was off?

I suppose it will be easier to move my bracket on the swing arm than do your mod.

Which was obvioulsy well done.

Like Fer says, you'd have to reweld the lug on the other end of the caliper. If you're going to that amount of trouble, would it not be better to bore out the carrier and fit a floating bush for the wheel spindle. You can then take the torque arm to the frame, this will then stop the back end squatting when the brake is applied.

No... not as I'm aware Chris. When the brake is applied, the caliper pulls on the frame and this is what stops squat.
Done this conversion many times, as on my GSX1100ET below.:wink:

Yes a 3.5" rear and 2.5" front.

Cost me £450 at the time :shock: but light and oh so strong :D
