Parts ID Help please...

Ok then inmates, I need some help with a part ID, so lets see what you got.

Here is a NOS Gen-U-Wine Z1 grip, now you will notice how the individual grippy bits are domed (have a radius) ....



So I ordered the matching version from a seller in the US, and today this arrived.....





As you can see the little grippy bits are flat, so what bike was this made for? it is not the same as the part that was advertised by the seller, as their ebay picture had the domed grip?

pretty sure its Z900 but I'm sure a Z900/1000 owner will confirm

If it doesn't have japan embossed on the end then its a pattern part.
Sadly genuine grips have recently become nla from kawasaki.

it does have Japan embossed, and is a NOS part, but what for?
