Well heres the start of this winters project.
Mainly cosmetic as the motor apart from a leaking head gasket is very sound
and im a firm beleiver in "if it aint broke dont fix it"
Want to get rid of the rear mudguard and fit Z1000 tail piece i have spare,
spoke wheels, new paint job and lots of chrome and polishing ( i know someone who does it and he aint to bad).
And change the seat and exhaust.
On the subject of the paint job a lot of you aint gonna like it.
Anyway hope to start stripping it tomorrow morning.

This will be interesting Mikey. I think mounting the rear tailpiece is going to throw up some challenges with regards to getting the lines right as the subframe is very different to the earlier LTDs as are the side-panels.

Looking forward to seeing it progress.

Already spoke to jak about this simon and he said hell come and measure it all up and cut and weld where nessescary and you know how clever he is with that kind of thing.

Wonderd when someone was going to spot that, and no gary its not what you think it is.
got about 3 of them dotted round me workshop and garage its for the chrome stripping tank, believe me you dont wanna leave anything in there over night :doh

Mikey I liked the LTD range when it was out and I do still like them.

My big cousin had a LTD 1000 new. He still lives in the same village as our Iain Marshall.

I was only about 14 but it done it for me BIG style.

Well started stripping it this morning at 2 am (couldnt sleep) and if iw wasnt for a stubborn bottom engine mounting bilt would have finished.
Bit the Z1000 tail piece seems to sit ok just need a couple brackets
wellded on for it to bolt to and have to have a seat made to suit.

Cheers guy when i get a mo ill post a pic of the horrific bodge i found on the
top rear engine mount but for now got to try and get that stubborn front bottom engine mount bolt out.

Google the z1000g. That had chrome on the side of the tank.

Finally got the stubborn front bottom engine mounting bolt out today.
But this is the bodge on the top rear mounting bolt, the piece of casting in my hand is what was cracked off the casing, what the previous owner done
was place it back on, drill a hole at an angle through the crank case
then bend that bit of metal over it and put a nut and bolt through it to clamp it all together had to cut through the mounting bolt to get it out as the bolt was bent :roll:
