When I look at the engines Gary cleans it depresses me :(

How the feck do you get them that clean? Spent 2 hours today cleaning my engine after taking the exhaust off and I am sure it looks worse now :shock: Then I see these pics :roll:
Inheritance? What inheritance? He spent it all on booze, women and Zed parts!

Good to compare notes. Try some 00 gauge wire wool on the smoother casings/ cam cover - does the work of loads of solvol dead quick mister.

Mind you I prefer the rugged lived in look on my motor -

Did you do that 'by hand' or was it soda blasted?, if the former then that's VERY impressive and much better than mine.

Must admit I'm a bif fan of wooley wire (helped by the fact I get for nothing through work :lol: ) only problem I've found is with the engine in situ bits of wire wool tend to break off and get lodged in all manor of crevices which can be a pain to remove and also start to rust with the slightest hint of damp.

I tend to return too cleaning the engine several times as trying to get a decent finish at the first time of asking is near impossible as it can be a soul destroying task when doing it all by hand.

it was a hand job (but keep it quiet right :wink: )

Did have the engine out at one stage though which made a big difference to the nooks and crannies.
