I am waiting for a new set of carbs to be delivered and then it will get a proper check over and I can rectify the slight oil weep from the head gasket. Any advice on that gratefully received.

B2 revisited rebuild

Done a few miles in between the rain and got one of the last bits that I have been waiting for. I persuaded Norman Hyde to make me a black chrome Harris pipe. Apparently the finish used to cause lots of issues so I had to agree that I took it however it came out. I have to say it looks very good and with a race baffle sounds lovely. I also fitted a set of original footrest hangers from my brothers spare bike to reduce the knee pain caused by the raask rearsets.

beware the GPz slight oil weep from the head!
If the cam tunnel o ring is on the way then you having only one option is to replace it and the head gasket, if you take the cheap option and use a pattern gasket set then it will fail again in 2 to 3 thousand miles.
So either replace with genuine Kawasaki gasket and O ring or go for a cometic 1 piece gasket.
I know I've been there and ignored the pattern o ring advice

Many thanks for the positive responses. Although supportive of my endeavors in the shed my wife and daughters are not quite as enthusiastic as you lot are!
Regarding the head gasket issue it's running an 1170 bore so I put on the cometic gasket and sealant in the space around the cam tunnel, I had the head and barrels refaced and I lapped the 2 together to check the flatness which was all good. The gasket has squeezed out and deformed around the dowels. The leak is around the dowels and the camchain tunnel. It was totally oil tight until I started revving it past 7000 after the run in. I retorqued the head at 250 miles and perhaps I should do it again. Is there a better gasket or should i use sealant?

I got the cometic in mine now after the pattern gasket problems
I got the sealant from Debbens and the cometic.
I used the sealant in both the cam tunnel groove and in the o ring grooves on the oil ways at each end of the barrels.
I have had a look at the parts manual for the B2 and it looks the same as the b1 (which I have)

Speaking to Steve Debben a while back, it seems once they start leaking it's too late to try re-torquing.
I had a problem with the dowels being too long after head & barrels were skimmed, so worth checking them, even if the gasket has been deformed.
I normally re-fill the 'o'ring recess after allowing the sealant to 'sink back' overnight. I also 'dressed' the gasket with a little RTV around the outer studs & cam chain tunnel. Also re-torque it down after the first heat cycle has gone through it.
