flickering oil warning light

Also worth noting that this was a common problem with bikes from the factory as late as 1977!

However by changing the switch the situation has improved a lot. As said the light is on only with hot engine at 1000 rpm. Above 1000 rpm it goes off.
I have also removed the spark plugs and push the switch on button looking to the oil windows.
Oil level goes down nicely, so I believe pump is working.

Bledlow popped over last night bearing gifts, well an oil pump to be precise.
On inspection found all screws fixing cover plate were lose and partially out.
Removed cover plate and hey-ho no gasket in situ. Checked gears and all looked ok, refitted cover plate with gasket and even though cover plate sits on dowels had four attempts befor we were happy with fit.
Over to Bledlow to fit... Watch this space.
We may have to drill the bleed hole as this pump was knocking out 4.5 to 6 psi at 3K RPM way above STD.

All sorted now as dogsbollox said the oil pump
Had no gasket the Phillips head screws were
All loose. In fact one had dropped out
And was laying in the sump. I glad I took you guys
Advice and dropped the sump to
Have a butchers. Went for a 20 miles
