Set up is from 11.00am, although we're getting pretty slick now. :bla

A couple of things to note are new rules issued this year. :rules

1. All bikes on show must have no more than a litre of fuel.

2. All bikes on show must have batteries disconnected.

3. All electrical equipment used on stands must be PAT tested & certified.

4. Each stand must have a fire extinguisher ......... in case all of the above fails I suppose.

That's fine Chris, no need to 'bust a gut', there's always plenty of help & to be honest not much will happen until after lunch anyway.

Yes i was wondering bout that
How do you safely dispose of fuel down to 1 litre assuming you've rode in and fuelled up to get down there surely if you allow 1 litre that's pretty flammable enough
Again disconnecting battery ( some people have alarms on them needing power)
Surely a proper and safe risk assememt should be carried out . Why have they never caught fire before ??
How many of these ( well maintained ) bikes catch fire
I say well maintained as they are it's show standard bikes we are talking here
Mostly very cosseted machines
Why are they more likely to catch fire at Stafford than in a garage??
All these regs are typical of modern beaurocracy gone mad
Some bloody power mad do gooder on a committee who likes to hear the sound of his own voice

Just sayin

Tanks of fuel are more likely to explode when they are nearly empty as against full as its the congregation of vapours that ignite first not the fuel ,and having loose battery wires that mat spark .whose idea was this .

The 1 litre of fuel and batteries disconnected rules were there for last year as well but we all either didn't notice or ignored it. The organisers simply don't have the resources to check or enforce these so my guess would be they are covering their back with the insurers.
Fire extinguisher on every stand is probably in reality a very good idea that will not cost a lot to implement.
