Just doing an oil change on the Croz replica. Ordered oil and genuine Kawasaki filter from M&P via eBay and I'm not sure they have supplied correct parts.
Oil filter is genuine Kawasaki but parts number is 16099-003. All the schematics I have give correct part number as 16099-002. The supplied filter is not as tall as that fitted. Is this a superseded part number?
Also oil provider is Silkolene 10W 40 full synthetic. The listing was for competition spec oil specific to Z900/Z1000 as this is track bike and lives at high revs, temperature etc. I always thought these old motors were supposed to use only semi-synthetic to prevent clutch slip?
Wise advise please.

Re: Correct oil and filter - Z1R motor
I would say you have the wrong filter - 16099-002 is correct
see this web page as a guide - the two filters are different
http://www.partzilla.com/parts/detail/k ... 9-002.html
Also - all the oil recommendations I have seen for this model these days is for semi synthetic.
If your engine is non standard I cannot really comment
I have used Halfords semi synthetic motorcycle oil for years - changing about every 1500 miles.
(What can cause clutch slip is using oil designed for car engines as it is not designed to come into contact with clutch plates)
Cheers

Re: Correct oil and filter - Z1R motor
You need oil filter 16099-002 (Hiflo Filtro HF126) and semi synth oil.
You need the long filter.
The short filter will be for either an early Z1 or the later 'J' and is not compatible with the filter bolt of your engine and will allow oil to bypass the filter.
The oil want's to be either 10/40 (Silkolene super 4) for normal road tootling or a bit heavier for tuned motors.
I use Rock oil TRM 20/60 in most of mine now which has long chain molecules formulated for roller bearing cranks.

Yes, very definitely Kawasaki genuine part all correctly boxed etc but very different from the one that came out the motor. I have now bought correct part from Cradley and asked M&P for a refund. Oil I can use in a modern bike.
TRM is new to me but just ordered a couple from Wemoto as couldn't find anyone else in UK stocking it on line.
Just in case here is the listing to avoid:
