Coils

#1 PostAuthor: Big Fluff » Sat Jun 24, 2017 12:23 am

I am suspecting that the new Dyna mini coils I bought may be faulty.
Can I hook up the standard coils to the Dyna 2000 without any problems, just to eliminate components.
I don't want to try it if there's a chance of buggering the standard coils.
If there is a chance of screwing them, then I suppose I'll have to try it with points and standard coils, but that won't tell me what is faulty.
The problem seems to be swapping cylinders, so yes I've already tried swapping the coils and leads around but to no avail.
Appreciated answers please.

Yes! There is loads of bar-room expertise that you NEED 5ohm coils for points and 3 ohm for electronic or vice versa in the Harley world, but I've run both with no noticeable difference.

Now there MAY BE a longevity issue, or a burning out points issue over time, but for testing I can't see an issue.
Cheers,

Mark.
