The starter clutches are different, so the motor might be, the Z1100R uses a Unitrak GPZ1100 engine, ZX1100A model, but you probably new this already

Re: Lawson Jigsaw Project
Yeah Julian, I found that out a few weeks ago.
Been reinstating the battery box mounting brackets & the side panel rubber grommet lugs.
I don't think that it is as it was originally, but the bike wont be original by a long way.
Next I need to fabricate a side stand mounting bracket , then I will need to fabricate the head light ears ( another unobtainium) Part!!
Last thing to fabricate will be the fairing brackets .

Had to have the unobtainium engine decal plates done by a local engraver.
1.5thk brushed stainless steel.
Engraved & black infilled.
Not an exact copy, but close enough for

So I will make it fit
Just ordered my 530 chain & sprocket kit from Ray @ Debbens
Should have some progress in the next couple of weeks.

Re: Lawson Jigsaw Project
Had some circular hollow section machine to suit the 38mm fork tubes.
Will plasma cut a couple of headlight ears over length , so I can trim to suit & get the headlight in the correct location along with the skidmarx fairing.

Re: Lawson Jigsaw Project
Got a bit more done....
Fitted a new side stand & welded the mount bracket.
Stand is from a ZX9R, -Again, this buildbwas never going to be a restoration .
Aligned up the new plasma cut headlight ears ,this was the most difficult as I did not have a datum to work from.but they are within 2 mm.
Next , I will have a couple of 5mm thick fairing brackets plasma cut & tack weld .
That should finish all the welding .
Next I will fit the rebuilt engine & start the wiring .

Re: Lawson Jigsaw Project
Thought I’d better give a little update on my Lawson jigsaw puzzle.
It’s been a while & been busy.
Frame all back from powder coat
Paintset back from Simon- Feckin Stunning is an understatement.
Bespoke wiring loom all done , clock backlights all now LED & updated fuse box , fine away with the silly lockouts on the clutch & side stand, I added in a neutral only start lock out.
Maybe another week or so , should just about finish it.
