Picked up a CBX and met the owner of Phil Churchett's old Z1B

Picked up a 79 CBX 1000 today from Mark Hutton which my mate 'Dangerous Dave' Gilroy has bought to add to his growing bike collection, which includes his 73 UK Z1 - had a good ride on it, it's a heavy bit of kit but it goes like stink with the 6-cylinders just howling above 6,000 rpm..........

Whilst at Mark's I got chatting to a local chap who own's Phil Churchett's old Z1B - what a small world. He's a Z1OC member and hopefully will be joining our local Berks, Hants and Surrey ride out group.

The guy I spoke to lives in Leatherhead, Surrey and said it was Phil's old Z1B so maybe Sean sold it?

He did have a diamond green Z900A4 though, is that what you meant?

I own Phil's old Z900, see the link in my sig block - I believe Phil also owned a Z1B which, according to an article by Steve Kent (club mag Winter 2010), Steve rode it to keep the wheels turning during Phil's illness, serviced it and sold it for Phil.

Th guy's name who owns it is Gawen.

CBX an unscratched itch for me.... had the CB 900 KZ liked that but not a zed. Think the ZRX I have as a work horse in Dublin is just sublime!±

Popped into Mark Hutton's today to get the rear tyre changed on my Z900 and Phil Churchett's old Z1B was in being recommissioned: carbs off, tank off, ignition out and front brake fluid drained - it looked a bit sorry for itself, but no doubt Mark will get back running on-song.

Hi Chris, I sold Phils Z1B to the guy in Surrey a couple of years ago. First time I've seen her since then, Still looks great, glad so she is still well loved. Sean.
