Z1B back from the dead
A few months ago I was told of an old kwak that had been in a garage in Manchester for 30 years .... had to have a look as the guy said it was a 21B .... mmmm ...... maybe he means Z1B ?
A few days later this arrived home complete with gs1000 rear end and Z1000 front , Z1r tank and assorted bolted on bits

Re: Z1B back from the dead
Clocks are z650 , seat is z1000 the more I got into it the more depressing it got but then I sold all the bits I didn't need for more than the purchase price so things started to look up
Re: Z1B back from the dead
A tad unusual but a good base to start from. Good luck with the project.

Re: Z1B back from the dead
went shopping for parts and found some forks , wheels , tank etc , had some vapour blasting done and sent the frame off for checking ....... spent a fortune at ZPower but wont bore you with the parts list .....suffice to say it was extensive and expensive
Got the frame back from Triple S powder coaters yesterday and I have a spare day tomorrow to start putting it back together ;)

Re: Z1B back from the dead
As the bike had been sitting since at least 1989 in the same garage Im assuming its a UK bike so I will try and get as close as I can to Uk / Euro spec
Re: Z1B back from the dead
You managed to get a long mudguard and a UK grab rail so good start, I need both them if you have a contact or want to sell them

Re: Z1B back from the dead

There is some confusion if the Z1b had the Uk style grab rail ......fortunately the bike had the Uk spec bottom yoke

I thought it was only fitted on the z900A4, but I would tell you that so you'll sell it to me

Re: Z1B back from the dead
Big K just started putting the parts on their bikes when the old one run out. So it's not unknown for the last of the model before got the 'newer. parts.
Re: Z1B back from the dead
IMHO the grab rail with lugs is an abomination, a modification for some unknown legislative reason to the original vision, and should not even be fitted to Z900s and Z1000s both of which come with perfectly serviceable frame indicator mounts. The fact that Kawasaki continued to weld the frame mounts onto the 1000s speaks volumes...
