'77 kz1000a1 - running project - £2500 _ SOLD!
'77 kz1000a1 - running project - SOLD!
I recently purchased this directly from the previous owner in the USA but I have now decided to sell it as I simply have too many projects!
American title and NOVA confirmation to hand.
Work done so far:
Stripped, cleaned and rebuilt the carbs. New gaskets used and internal parts replaced as required.
Has good compression (130-140 PSI on all cylinders cold).
All electrics work and I have changed Oil and filter changed and fitted new plugs.
Had a peek under the cam cover and all looks good.
Had it fired up and it ran, if a bit roughly.
Chrome on wheels and mudguards it very good, with only very light pitting.
Fork stanchions are in A1 condition. Frame is a little tatty but not much rust.
Tyres and chain are shot and brakes are dry.
Choice of tank/body work. The blue tank has badges and a fuel tap, but is internally rusted. The black one is decent inside, has a fuel tap but no badges. See photos.
24,700 miles on the clocks although title says 29k for some reason....
Frame Number:KZT00A505323
Engine Number: KZT00AE037135
Please note that I temporarily put the Kerker from my z900 on it. It will come with drag pipes that i arrived with.
I've got loads of z1000 spares so swapping some parts could be possible.
Any questions please ask.
Cheers
Nigel

Re: '77 kz1000a1 - running project - £2500
Hi ultim8pic
seems to be a nice project.
It's indeed a Z1000A1 according to the frame number, made in the Nebraska Kawasaki plant (the "5" in front) but I think it has a Z1000A2 engine.
( different cranckshaft ).
The bike seems rather complete, not much parts missing, and it seems to me that the switches are European, a good buy for someone who wants a big kawasaki!
Hope you can sell it fast!
Good luck !

I had wondered about the engine, given it's number differs to the frame by more than the usual margin. The previous owner had it for 25 years and assured me it never had the engine swapped in his ownership.
The switch gear is from an American '77 kz1000Ltd, which I'm slowly asset stripping. I put this on as there was no left hand switch gear and the right hand one was in a really bad state.
