Could someone let me know please
Is there and physical difference between the first and second rings on z series piston rings and is there a right way up to fit them
They seem to be the same dimensionally and interchangeable but I would like to be sure
Thanks Chris

Re: Piston rings
Top ring usually Chrome.
Second ring plain cast (black) and should be thicker.
There should be a mark on one side of the ring next to the gap, which goes up.
Usually a T or TOP.

Re: Piston rings
genuine rings are difficult to distinguish especialy the top & second ring as they are both silver. you will need a good magnifying glass to see the chamfered edges of the top ring
Re: Piston rings
Stock 1000 rings have an "N" etched near the gap to denote which way is up.
The top ring has chamfered outer edges whilst the second rings are squared/sharp.
The upper inner edge of the second ring is notched whilst the top rings inner edges are plain.
