GPZ1100B2 cam specs

Gents,

I've been scouring t'interweb and searched to see if I can find the cam specs (or a service manual) for a GPz1100B2, where other than one post on another forum I appear to have failed dismally...

The post stated a lift of 8.8mm and duration of 288 degrees for both (three grooves on the raised boss). Could anyone please confirm if this is correct?

Measure them, I wouldn't rely on the markings on the cam

What part of the cam lobe do I measure and what measurement should I expect for a R2 cam and a J cam

For the lift you need to subtract the base circle from the overall cam height or use a dial gauge on the cam lobe as it rotates.
For the duration you need a dial gauge on the cam bucket and a degree wheel on the crank.

The cams are still in in the head and I don’t have the gauges you suggest. I did a rough measurement on the upper lobe
with a rule (pic), is this what I need to measure as I get approx 11mm

No! The lift will be less than that.
11mm is race cam territory.
More like 8.6 to 9mm ish.
The base circle is a larger dia than the core of the cam that you are measuring from so the lift will be less.
You need to measure across the cam from the peak of the lobe through to the bottom of the cam then measure the base circle and subtract that figure to get the lift..
If you have some Verniers you should be able to take those measurments with the cam in situ.
