Two stroke action in Derby
I seem to have agreed to go to some sort of RD/LC Rally in Derby this weekend 6/7/8 July, it’s at Derby Rugby Club is about all I know about it - anyone going by any chance? Either way if you’re into that kind of thing and near there to let you know it’s on. I have no idea what to expect I’m just tagging along... pics to follow as an when
Re: Two stroke action in Derby
Chris, that sounds like the air cooled RD rally, sure it's usually at a rugby club in the East Midlands area. Not owned one for 30+ years but would love to see some pics. I had a lot of good times on them between the age of 18 and 23

Festival of 1000 Bikes is at Mallory Park this weekend (7/8)
I'll be there with my FZ750, assuming it doesn't break down on the way

Did 70K on my FZ750, never broke down once! seat was bloody awful though and given I was living in Norwich and working in Peterhead and Weston Super Mare my butt was redder than an angry baboons!

Mine's now coming up for 58K miles, I know someone who had one that did 135K miles with no problems, the seat hasn't mellowed with age, it's still uncomfortable after an hour, Mallory is about a 3 hour ride from mine (well it is the interesting route I'm going to use)
This FZ uses less oil than the one I had 25 years ago, despite having done twice as many miles, though it could be that the 51 year old me is less of a thrasher than the 26 year old me - I did Ipswich to Maidstone in an hour on a Friday evening on my first one, including paying the Dartford toll.

Re: Two stroke action in Derby
Thanks for posting the pics Chris, looks like there were some really nice bikes there both standard and modified. Shame most of the owners look as old as the bikes, much the same as with Zeds

If you mean the blue one (Marine Blue) then yes they did, the mag wheels were optional extras at £30 if memory serves me right, and it's a 400C the first and only RD400 to have no tail piece, how do I know this.... I had one
P.S. Yes cracking pics Chris
No longer searching.......

Great day, I was there myself, some fantastic bikes on show. Had to laugh though, I spotted me and the missus in picture 20......

What great pictures brings back so many memories. My cousin had a 250 YDS7 and promptly wrapped it round a steel fence. It was a goner.
