Not trying to start a riot and Its over 30 years since I fitted one of the kits but I have a question ....
back in the mists of time I remember these jets all being fitted at the 4 o'clock position on the carbs as you mention in the fitting instructions ... the photo shows them fitted in the 4 o 'clock and 8 o' clock positions ????
I have been back on morphine for the last 8 months so forgive me if I am talking gibberish

Yes! 4 and 8 o,clock on the VM slides.
I.E the innermost position from each side.
They are handed as pairs so the jet bleed is opposite the pilot air screws ( or air screw casting blank if of the pilot fuel screw type) which are on the outer position of each pair for easy adjustment access .
Unless of course you have one of the anomalous sets of fuel adjust banks that use all left hand or right hand bodies which would then have them all at 4 or 8 o'clock depending or are fitting them to Mikuni CV's which would be 4 o'clock on all... Simples ???

That's explains just about all fitting options
As I said 30 years has passed by since I last fitted a set and that probably would have been to a set of CV's because the bike was a Z1000J and the last few months of morphine has scrambled the few brain cells that I had left anyways

Hi Rob
New to the forum and just got me Z1000 A1 back on the road, I'm running a Vance and Hines exhaust and standard air box. I'm wondering whether these jets may help the bike on start up, as I always need plenty of choke.
Cheers
Stuart
