Can anyone give me an idea of the easiest way to remove the front wheel bearing on a Z900?

Depends on whether you are replacing the bearings or refitting them.
If you are replacing them you don't have to be quite as careful.
A blind bearing puller, (the type with a slide hammer attachment) might be the best tool to use to get the first bearing out. I'd also warm up the wheel hub around the bearing to get it to expand a bit, which will make it a lot easier to get that bearing out.
Once that bearing is out you can lift out the spacer tube & use the same tool to get the other bearing out.
If you are replacing the bearings & don't have a suitable puller you can use an aluminium drift to knock the bearings out. It's best to have a good, square face on the drift & it should be long enough to pass through the wheel from the opposite side to the bearing you are trying to remove. Again warm the hub up & hit the drift with a hammer, gently !! As you hit the drift you also need to keep moving the drift around the bearing to keep it coming as as square as possible.
If you do not move the drift around you risk "cocking" the bearing over & it will become very difficult to remove it without damaging the faces of the hub.
If you don't have an aluminium drift, brass would do or any other soft metal drift. If you have nothing other than a steel drift just excersie extreme caution espicially if you intend to refit that bearing, for whatever reason.

Many thanks, I was replacing so didn't have to worry. Came out surprisingly easy seeing as they have been in there l suspect for over 40 years.

When you get the new ones leave them in the freezer overnight until you come to fit them.
