Hi Chaps.
After 6 months of blood sweat and knuckles I thought I would see if there was any interest in my Z1000J.
You know what its like when you finish these projects, you walk in to the garage and there's nothing to do and you start thinking about the next one!!
TBH when I got the J I was after a Z1 but my available budget meant that I could only get a real bag of nails and I would of run out of cash very quickly.
So I thought lets build the project pot up and see what comes up over the long dark months.
The bike rides so well and belies its 38 years. Its a UK bike with the V5 in my name. It is MOT'd and expires 28/06/2021.
Mileage is shown at 29k but I had to replace the odometer that it came with but that also showed 29k spooky, I would not have a clue if this is accurate though. The bike does not smoke at all.
It is difficult to know where to price it as you don't see so many J's for sale out there so I'm not sure where the market is. I'm sure you guys will let me know if I'm out.
I really would like £4500.00 for her or very close (sensible offers only).
Compared to some of the rubbish and over priced bikes on Fleabay I don't think its bad. Heh its not original but the bones are there if that's what you want.
Virtually everything is either new or has been done as per list below:
Frame and wheels powder coated.
Front forks rebuilt with I think with new stanchions (not by me).
All new brake discs and pads and I believe the calipers have been re-sealed (not by me)
New Avon Roadrider tyres (only covered a couple of hundred miles by me).
New battery.
New chain and sprockets.
New front brake master cylinder.
Re-sealed rear master cylinder.
Braided hoses.
New front (modern clear lens) H4 headlamp.
New rear lamp lens.
New non-original indicators.
New mirrors.
Boyer Bransden electronic ignition system.
Dyna Spark coils.
Heavy duty copper core ignition leads and new NGK caps.
Iridium NGK spark plugs.
NOS Telefix fork brace.
New paint (Seat Energy Blue) with touch up pen.
New fuel cap.
New inlet manifold rubbers.
New Ram Air filters.
Starter clutch has been replaced.
Oil and filter done within last couple of hundred miles.
New ELR seat cover, foam and strap.
Most nuts and bolts are stainless including the engine cases.
I'm sure I've missed a fair bit but judging by the pile of invoices I have anything else is under the skin.
Being honest as I can this is what still needs doing or needs looking at.
With the Boyer ignition I fitted makes the rev counter read double. Bloody annoying as it does not say anywhere in their bumf. I will knock the £50 off it costs to send to Boyer to get it rectified if I get near my asking price.
The wiring needs a bit of a tidy up. Everything apart from the hazards work and the previous owner replaced a lot of the connectors but it still needs a cosmetic tidy.
It always starts but sometimes takes a few pokes. It is better when the fuel tap is on prime and one of my next purchases was going to be a new fuel tap Pingel etc.
I have not done the tappets clearances yet.
Harris exhaust has age related marks but sounds awesome.
As we all know fueling with filters and pipes can be a bit of an issue. At the mo she ticks over lovely and pulls well but if I keep I was going to invest in a Dynojet kit for the carbs if I kept it.
I forgot, I had to make a seat fixing as the original seat clamps are like Unicorn poo and it did not come with the bike when I bought it. Works fine but you should know (I do have two of the brackets required).
There is a box of bits it comes with and I have a spare set of BS34 carbs for spares but these will be separate to the bike sale for £150.00.
Other than that the bike draws a crowd (especially with the err more mature riders) where ever you go.
I am only listing on here first and will give it a few days before I go public but any other questions please either PM me or give me a call 07913 152216.
Cheers Paul.
