Today I was going to fit my NOS points plate to my Z1A project and set it up, my first problem was that it wouldn’t go over the points cam.
I was going to post a photo in help, as in ‘what the hell is this’ but I now realise that it isn’t a cam, and is in fact the trigger unit for a solid state system which I haven’t got. My auto advance is in VGC, but it seems the cam isn’t available separately, and the original didn’t come with the bike. Either I need a whole assembly, and just use the cam, or maybe someone here has gone electronic ignition and has their original points cam kicking around somewhere.
My advance/retard unit is the early type, but as far as I know the cam stayed the same.
