Hoada super 4 clean up
Thought i would give my little Project Big One a freshen up as the frame was so rusty. so stripped, frame and motor cleaned, frame blasted and powder coated and motor back in in the last two weeks, most bolts on engine replaced with stainless as originals are really scabby and front motor mount bolts replaced with stainless also.

Nice. Given the current popularity of Retro's I'm surprised Hodna haven't done a modern version of the original 400/4 given it's popularity then and now.

Can honestly say i was never enamoured by the 400/4, to me it always looked unbalanced and that tank was an after thought, now the 350/4 was the bike that looked a whole lot better.

I fired her up Saturday, and it pissed petrol out of the bowl to body joints and the fuel tees, i had not stripped the carbs, so off with them, o rings replace on tees, got to wait for the bowl seals, originals dried and cracked, schoolboy error really, bowls also not flat on mating faces so i filed off the locating lugs on them as they are not needed and used a level surface with 240 grade wet and dry sheet on top until surfaces all flat, roll on the bowl seals.

Took for a couple of shakedown runs and performing well, last weekend was spent stripping the brake callipers of some badly applied gold paint down to their original dark anodised finish which was not too special, so i brushed on a Zebo type product and they have come up well, as with all good clean ups it was not cheap, surprised, not.

Gave it a 30 mile blat today, went really well apart from almost zero damping on the rear, RFY shocks that came with the bike, so new shocks soon, went up the Wash.
