Bike doesn’t start

#1 PostAuthor: Dero » Sat Aug 14, 2021 10:46 am

Hi everyone,
I have a 1976 Z900a4 with 15000 miles on it.
I haven’t used it for some time due to Covid Restrictions Also I bought the New Z900rs so rode that instead.
I went to start the 1976 Z900 and all I get is a clicking from the solenoid.
The battery seems to be charged But the ignition light dims and solenoid clicks when I press the start button.
Does anyone have any ideas before I book it in to the garage Please?
I was thinking Battery but it seems to be charged.
Battery is 3 years old and usually kept on an optimiser when I am not using the bike.

Thank you in advance.
Derrick

Sounds like a duff battery. Check voltage with a multimeter.

Had similar on a bike today.

Poor connection of the starter motor lead on the solenoid mount 10mm nut.

flat battery- charge then try again if no good new battery then put it on a battery conditioner to keep it healthy whilst not being used
