Ralph a member / area rep on here runs this website and listed under engine build tools is piston ring compressing clamps (also a video on site showing them being used) - I think you’ll need 2 sets - just under £20 each. If you’re a paid up member you should get a discount.

Think there is two z1 z900 and z1000 I need it for my z1100 which I would think would be the z1000 one. After speaking to Kawasaki U.K. the 1100 uses a completely different tool altogether, they said they are obsolete I have found one at a cheap price but will have to wait and see what turns up as no one could confirm it’s the same but. Cheers

Don't know how others on here have faired, but I've rebuilt a few 4 cylinder engines without using a ring compression tool. If the liner has plenty of chamfer on it and you're careful and don't mind losing the odd bit of fingernail you can refit pistons without a ring compression tool.
As above, others may advise against this but I've always managed it without breaking a ring yet.

Rebuilt literally dozens of engines. Never found the need to use one either. Worst lengths I've had to go too is a plastic strip / cable tie combo.

First time doing a 4 cylinder and just don’t want to damage anything. Will give it another go.
