Hi Guys,
I'm not new to the club as such, I used to be a member many years (decades?) ago, when it was a little booklet in the post.
I have a few old Zeds that I have had since the early 80's, all are undergoing a rebuild.
I have a Z650 which has a frame that was reworked by Harris back in 1982, braced and mono-shocked
I have a Z1000 A1 which has a frame that was reworked by Harris back in 1983, braced and mono-shocked
I have a Z1000 A1 which has an ex Jim Wells A4 motor with DFI and other period mods like CMA wheels and Brembos, Harris Pipe
I have a Z1300 which has a frame that was reworked by Harris back in 1984, braced and mono-shocked, White Power suspension, Harris 6-1 pipe, Kool Kawasaki France fairing etc.
I'm currently rebuilding the Z650 for my son, who has just passed his test. It's been in bits since 1985 when it was repainted and never re-assembled.
I wonder if anybody can recommend reputable breakers who specialise in old Zed parts ?
Also where would I find a Harris pipe for the Z650, and maybe for the Z1000 if I cannot get it re-chromed?
Cheers

Re: Returning member
Thanks for the suggestion, I will phone them.
I've managed to get all the engine parts for a complete rebuild of a 750L motor, and all the normal service parts for the chassis new from Z-Power, for my son's 650.
That leaves a seat, an exhaust , a new Mono-shock unit to find.
For my Z1000 DFI I'm going to need a good chrome plater as it's been sitting in my garage for about 5 years and the only real deterioration is the chrome. Any Ideas?

I’ve used Silvabronz in Alton. They’ve been quite good for chroming. 01420 80880
Re: Returning member
if you have no joy with a harris, maybe consider a delkavic. good fit, looks period, stainless & sounds ok.

Thanks,
I used Silvabronz many years ago, I'll give them a go.
I will need to work out how to get carbon out of the Harris pipe if there is any chance to get it re-chromed, any suggestions?

Re: Returning member
I'd looked at the Delkavic exhausts, do they have a good reputation?
Re: Returning member
Got a Delkevic on my 1000J.
For the price they are very good. Fit well and seem to be pretty good quality.
You can see it here:

They do a different style longer end can too if you prefer that look.
