Oil leak from exhaust stud

#1 PostAuthor: rpeters » Sun Mar 13, 2022 12:22 pm

I have oil dripping from No.1 exhaust stud, when engine is hot. It’s definitely coming from underside of the stud and the top side of the stud is dry. Could it be that the stud hole has cracked through to an oil galley or has been drilled and hit the oil gallery. The engine was a ‘new build’ from Joe Hooper and this is just another one of a number of problems I have had so far… any ideas?

remove the stud & inspect the thread to see how deep it is i think you would have to drill in quit deep to hit the oilway
