KZ1000J ELR variation on a theme - SOLD

#1 PostAuthor: rickm » Sun Mar 06, 2022 1:32 pm

Painted in Eddie Lawson’s championship race winning colours 1981. This has the original 1981 USA round tank as seen on Eddie’s championship winning bike (unlike the official release ELRs which all came with the square European tank).

All steel parts are powder coated, plus newly powder coated wheels.
Engine was fully rebuilt around 500 miles ago (at Kipkawa) with original 998cc engine size, new bores /new pistons / new rings.
Cylinder head has had a full overhaul, new seals and valve work (all valve shims at 225+).
Dyna S ignition and new high output lithium battery.
Delkevic stainless stubby exhaust.
Genuine Koni rear shocks (a popular upgrade back in the day).
New swing arm bearings / wheel bearings.
New chain & sprockets, original chainguard included.
Even has the toolbox / helmet lock / seat lock.

V5 is in my name and fully UK registered. I’ve had this bike 6 years but not used it as much as I’d hoped, and now need some space in the workshop. Odometer showing 17k miles.
Currently SORN but comes with MoT which expires 1st Sept 2022.
Qualifies for Historic Vehicle status as of April 2022, so will be MoT exempt and tax free from next month.
Looking for £6450 or sensible offer. NOW REDUCED TO £5500

Ok, plenty of viewing but no real interest.
Would anyone like to make an offer of what they feel it's worth before I put it on carandclassic at the weekend?

Bump !

Decided to register the bike as historic myself, so the new owner doesn't have that hassle.
Just waiting for the V5 to come back from DVLA (4 weeks now :mad ).
This really is the last chance to get in with a sensible offer before advertising elsewhere?

Anyone like to make an offer around £5500 before I put it on the C&C auction ?
My reserve won't be much less that this.
