As you mentioned, something is breaking down when getting hot.
I had exactly the same probs as you described with a LANCIA Delta Integrale back then. That fooled me (and the work shops) as it always started on next day when cold but stalled when I drove home and it got hot.
it turned out to be a bad connection in the CDI box that made a shortcut when hot.
So maybe you can find a blackbox just for testing.
I´d replace the fuel pump relais anyway.
