I never even advertised them as I wasn’t 100% sure what they were from originally, all I knew was that they fitted my A1 perfectly.

Some good knowledge being shown by you guys!

Happy New Year to All !
What else would we be doing on New Year if not posting on the Z1 OC forum.
B.T.W. there are at least three (3) different variations on the 19" front wheel fitted to the Z1000 Ltd's 77-80..... don't believe everything the computer says !!!

You dont want that on your A2

Why not, 18 inch front and rear - perfectly balanced Z10000.
Easy to extend the bolt holes on the front mudguard so it sits right.

Your part right Adrian yes now u would b perfectly ok with 18” due to more modern rubber back then in the day the z1r was known for tank slappers that’s y for d2-3 they went to 19” and dropped from 3.50 w to 3.25 tire plus at that size u had more option from the F6

Was this to increase the rake of the front?

Yes d2-3 is diffo from d1 in the frame so both help increase

Not the first time I've read this !
I think this is a reference to the later J series wheel design.

I was not referring to J wheels.

I have some photos somewhere of what I mean. Maybe the Z1r wheels I had were not from the Z1R?

@Ultim8pc
I'll stand corrected !
Not J series rims then.
If you can find some pictures it might be worth a new thread on Bike Help just to satisfy curiosity ? (no big deal though - its all water under the bridge so to speak)
The bikes we're talking about are 44 years old now so anything could have been changed in the meantime.
I've seen a lot of Z1R's in those 44 years though and every single one had a front wheel just like Adrian H has i.e. same pattern / style as the Mk2 and H type 7 spoke wheels - just the different diameter on the front 18" vs 19" (this is of course ignoring the modified bikes with changed wheels etc. !)
That said, before Adrians, I never saw an A2 with an 18" front - which just proves variations are possible !
It could equally be the case that the Z1R wheels you mention were just "different" !!
When they needed to get bikes out if the factory door on a Friday afternoon who knows....!
All the best Dave

can i just say z1r 18" 19" mk 2 are all the same that quote to get out of the factory door ??? all d1 z1r's were off the production line by December 77 and sent around the world only 330 d2 exist and d3 3300 ish give or take so those would have been made within a month and out ? most d3 and some d2 still out there will have there 19" wheel so from a spare point of view the 19" is harder to come by than the 18" if u have seen a different profile its not z1r
